THERE + BE

We use there is and there are to show that something exists or is present. In this case, the meaning is not 'there' as in 'over there'.

It is important to note that we can use this structure with various tenses and forms. For example, in the reading and listening content, we had these sentences:

There were opportunities galore.
There is an HR Department.
There will be days where you wonder what your job specification actually is.
